Create Art & Design

Arts education builds identity, helps pupils interpret the world, and supports mental well-being. During our Create term, we deep-dive into Art & Design, to develop technical mastery, critical thinking, and confidence in expressing original ideas.

We combine explicit instruction in core techniques with structured discovery, ensuring pupils master foundational skills step-by-step before producing independent work. By exploring a diverse range of artists and building a rich, subject-specific vocabulary, children broaden their cultural horizons and learn to analyse and articulate their creative ideas with confidence.

With a whole term dedicated to Create, we are able to explore each technique and artist in depth, and give the pupils agency when it comes to their learning. As well as building artistic skills, pupils will have a wealth of opportunities to research, express themselves and develop their communication skills. 

As Henri Matisse noted, "Creativity takes courage." Our Create term provides every child with the knowledge, confidence, and platform to explore their creative potential without limits.
