Beth Tweddle MBE Inspires Braywick Pupils
Pupil Olivia Skinner, 10 years old, writes about Olympian Beth Tweddle's visit to Braywick Court School:
"On Tuesday 4th November 2025, Beth Tweddle came to visit Braywick Court School.
She spoke to us about her career as well as her life and said that she had competed at the Olympic Games three times as a gymnast. Beth even won one bronze medal in the 2012 London Olympic Games. All together, including other competitions, Beth has won 14 gold, 8 silver and 6 bronze medals! She was a competitor at the Olympics well before the pupils of Braywick Court School were even born.
We learned that in the Olympics, female gymnasts have four obstacles to complete: bars, vault, beam and floor. While men have six. Beth told us her favourite apparatus was the Uneven Bars. Because she was just a great gymnast she even had a special move on the Uneven Bars named after her, it is called 'The Tweddle'.
After retiring from professional gymnastics, Beth began working with gymnastics clubs and during her visit she promoted 'Gymfinity Kids' where children can take part in gymnastics and ninja.
Everyone at Braywick Court School enjoyed engaging and learning from Beth Tweddle MBE and we hope to see her again in the future!"
